Schedule a tune-up – Complete any scheduled or overdue car maintenance before your trip. Your tires should have plenty of tread and has the manufacturer’s recommended tire pressure. Have you been putting on getting new wiper blades? You don’t want to be caught in a snowstorm without them.

Plan ahead – Waiting until the last minute to plan your holiday travel can cause unnecessary stress. Do you know the route you will be taking? What are the weather conditions you will be driving through? Be aware of alternate routes in case of any construction, road closings, or weather-related issues.

Pack a winter kit – A safety kit is a good thing to keep in your car at all times, especially during the winter months. A winter safety kit can include blankets, an ice scraper, rope for towing, jumper cables, a first aid kit and anything else you think would be necessary in case of an emergency.
